Scissor setting

A properly set screw provides smoother opening and closing of the scissors and keeps the blades sharper for longer.

When the screw is set correctly, minimal force is used to open and close the scissors.

Check your scissors daily or as soon as you feel a difference in cut (make sure the scissors are cleaned and oiled beforehand).

Hold the scissors in the thumb ring (1).

Open the scissors completely

Now release the finger rest (2) and let it fall to the thumb ring (1).

Screw too tight. The blades of the scissors can be damaged and too much force is needed to open and close the scissors.

Turn counterclockwise 1/16 of a turn (about 3-4 minutes by a watch hand)*.

Too loose a screw, the hair may bend or push the hair forward when cutting.

Turn clockwise 1/16 of a turn (approximately 3-4 minutes on a clock hand).

This shows that the screw is properly tightened and no changes are needed.
